Milano
Via Giacomo Venezian, 1 , 20133 Milano MI

"The analytical assistance activity aimed at diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of organ function parameters, as well as microbiological investigations aimed at identifying microorganisms that can induce infectious diseases in oncological patients undergoing conventional and experimental therapies, in compliance with current health regulations. It also focuses on experimenting with new analytical methodologies and transferring the knowledge acquired in the field of laboratory medicine to professionals and students."
In particular, the structure:
- Ensures the execution of biological analyses (on-site or in service) that respond to clinical questions;
- Manages Point of Care Testing (POCT) so that tests performed at the patient's point of care allow clinicians to make immediate diagnoses and/or therapeutic decisions;
- Conducts investigations that allow for the elaboration of data and information useful to inpatient departments with the aim of contributing to reducing the risk of infections in immunocompromised cancer patients (collaborates in the prevention and surveillance of hospital infections);
- Collaborates in experimental, clinical, and translational studies in oncology and contributes to the elaboration and dissemination of scientific data;
- Provides consultancy for the interpretation of laboratory data;
- Promotes, in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Training and Privacy Structure, courses and conferences aimed at training healthcare personnel in the biomedical field.
The applied policy is based on the continuous improvement of performance. Particular attention is paid to the diagnostic offer, with the selection of cutting-edge equipment and tests that meet clinical needs; to the "quality" of the data through process traceability and the execution of internal quality controls and external checks; to the management and organization of resources with particular attention to the safety, professionalism, and competence of operators.
