Scientific Report 2023

This edition of the Scientific Report provides a comprehensive overview of the Institute's research results for 2023.

During the year, the Institute's research activities resulted in the publication of 835 articles with a total Impact Factor of 7.916.00 points. There were 446 active experimental studies (399 of which were pharmacological studies), offering the best possible treatment and simultaneously giving patients access to innovative drugs and other medical technologies.

Once again, INT was confirmed by the Ministry of Health as the leading IRCCS in oncology, a testament to the excellence of its healthcare infrastructure, as well as its cutting-edge and high-impact basic, clinical, and translational research conducted by the Institute’s staff.

In 2023, the Scientific Director proposed a change in the Coordinators for the four research lines, appointing eight researchers (two for each research line), who were tasked with selecting the projects to be funded for the 2023-2025 period and overseeing the monitoring of institutional projects within each research area. At the end of 2023, an internal competitive call was launched, and a total of 46 projects were funded following evaluation by the Scientific Director and the research line coordinators.

This year, several actions were also taken to comply with the requirements of Legislative Decree 200/2022. These included the update of the Foundation's Statute and the development of the Research Integrity Code of Conduct, both of which were approved by the Board of Directors and adopted in July and June, respectively.
