The mission is to provide the best diagnostic support, prevention, and treatment in oncology patients within the Foundation's medical facilities. This mission is articulated through the following terms:

- Competence;

- Technology;

- Integration.

In an era of "evidence-based medicine" the Department of Advanced Services and Diagnostics represents a cross-cutting entity that constitutes a fundamental operational step in any medical or surgical procedure. The values and principles that inspire and guide our operators are:

- Centrality of the patient;

- Continuous improvement of the quality of care, ensuring adequate and appropriate use of the best diagnostic techniques and treatments;

- Multidisciplinary approach to clinical aspects;

- Development of clinical and translational research with rapid transfer to patients;

- Valuing human resources;

- Implementation of national and international collaborations;

- Continuous training of healthcare personnel.

In addition to the care activities, there are numerous research activities active at the individual Units that translate into significant translation of ultra-specialized diagnostic procedures available at the IRCCS Foundation.

Due to the nature of the functional department, there are many areas for potential synergistic integration among the various structures present, both at the care and research levels, with wide margins for management development as well.
