Via Giacomo Venezian, 1 , 20133 Milano MI
Tipologia: Research Area, Simple Structure
It is a unit under the Scientific Directorate, which includes the Grant Office, the Scientific Library, the Editorial Office of Tumori Journal, and the Technical-Scientific Secretariat of the Territorial Ethics Committee Lombardia 4.
The Grant Office provides support to researchers—both clinical and preclinical—in the design, management, and reporting of research projects.
It carries out scouting activities for calls that fund individual and collaborative research projects, ensuring the monitoring of major opportunities offered by national and international public and private funding bodies.
It facilitates researchers' access to information regarding research calls and manages relationships with funding bodies, both during the application phase and after project approval, up to project closure and final reporting.
Support to researchers during the application process includes the following key activities:
- verification of eligibility criteria for individual calls;
- assistance in preparing the necessary documentation for project submission;
- help with completing the required forms during the proposal submission phase;
- support in drafting the project budget;
- proofreading the proposal and checking its compliance with the specific call requirements.
The Grant Office also oversees the institutional process for acquired funding, offering assistance in the scientific and financial management and reporting of research projects.
The structure handles all legal requirements related to the handling and use of Genetically Modified Microorganisms (GMMs), both in preclinical research and in clinical trials involving Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), and manages communications with the relevant offices at the Ministry.
The Scientific Library promotes biomedical information through scientific documentation services and access to major online databases; it organizes training courses for access to scientific information; conducts bibliometric evaluations of researchers (H-Index calculation, impact factor, citation analysis, Researcher ID, ORCID, and Scopus ID) and of the institution as a whole; and plays an active role within the BIBLIOSAN system.
The Editorial Office of Tumori Journal maintains contact with Authors, the Editorial Board, and the publisher Sage Publishing; it also supervises the proofreading of drafts before publication.
The Technical-Scientific Secretariat of the Territorial Ethics Committee Lombardia 4 handles all regulatory requirements related to clinical, observational, and interventional studies. It manages the documentation and sessions of the Ethics Committee, supports clinical investigators and the Internal Review Board in protocol evaluation, interacts with AIFA and the Ministry of Health, and monitors the progress of clinical studies.
