Graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in July 1990 from the University of Milan. Admitted to the Specialization School in Radiology at the University of Milan, he obtained the diploma of Specialist in Radiology with a focus on Oncological Radiotherapy on July 14, 1994, with a score of 70/70 with honors. He obtained eligibility for University Professor of 2nd level in Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy (Pavia 2001). 

Since 1991, he has participated in numerous Research Projects at the IRCCS National Cancer Institute Foundation in Milan, conducted in an interdepartmental and/or multi-institutional context, both as a principal investigator and as an associated researcher or collaborator. 

From 1991 to 1997, he developed an intense collaboration with the Thoracic Surgical Oncology group of the Cancer Institute for the development and verification of combined surgical and radio-chemotherapy treatment of lung neoplasms. 

Since 2004, he has participated in the “Prostate Project,” a multidisciplinary working group established at the Cancer Institute in Milan, as a reference for radiotherapy. From January 2006 to December 2007, he was part of the working group organized by the Hospital Urologists Society (A.Ur.O) for the formulation of guidelines in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. 

Since 2007, he has been the pathology reference and coordinator of the Urogenital Radiotherapy group of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy at the Cancer Institute in Milan. Since 2009, he has held a high specialization professional position – level 2 – within the S.C. RTO1. Since 2011, he has been responsible for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) within the S.C. RTO1. From 2013 to 2019, he was part of the scientific committee of the Italian Society of Uro-Oncology (SIUrO). In his clinical activities, he has dealt with: 

  • primary and secondary neoplasms of the brain • neoplasms of the genitourinary system, with particular reference to prostate neoplasms, while also gaining extensive experience in the treatment of testicular neoplasms 

  • neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract, especially in the treatment of rectal, anal canal, and esophageal cancer 

  • In daily clinical practice, he uses the most modern irradiation techniques

  • stereotactic and image-guided ablative (IGRT) for the treatment of primary neoplasms and, above all, of loco-regional or distant recurrences
