Dr. Sieri Sabina

Degree in Biological Sciences and  Specialization in Food Science.  

She has been affiliated with the National Cancer Institute (INT) since 1997. Following a training period (fellowship) and professional collaboration, she served as a Fixed-Term Senior Biologist at the Epidemiology and Prevention Unit from 2002 to 2022. In 2022, she was appointed Permanent Senior Biologist. Since 2023, she has been serving as Acting Director of the Epidemiology and Prevention Unit.  

She is the author and/or co-author of 316 publications in the fields of epidemiology and nutrition, 28 of which as first or last author, with an h-index of 77 (Scopus, April 2025) and 36,552 citations (Google Scholar, April 2025). 

She has been awarded several research grants competitive research grants, including: 

Italian Ministry of Health's "Ricerca Finalizzata" in 2009 and 2019 

AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research) in 2016 

INT's Institutional Research Line 1 in 2020 

PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) in 2023 

She is the Principal Investigator (PI) of two major cohort studies, ORDET and EPIC, and was responsible for designing and coordinating the recall of the EPIC/ORDET cohorts between 2006 and 2008. Currently, she is responsible for the design and implementation of the large YouGoody cohort study, which will enroll and follow up approximately 100,000 volunteers and will involve researchers from the Epidemiology and Prevention Unit for the coming years. 

She has served as Co-PI and Co-Investigator for INT in numerous projects funded by the European Commission, NIH-NCI, AIRC, Compagnia di San Paolo, and the Italian Ministry of Health. She actively participates in several national and international networks, such as the Pooling Project and the Endometrial Cancer Consortium, in the field of nutritional and molecular epidemiology. She has active collaborations with numerous national and international research centers
