Since 2022 dr. Cantù has been Director of the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Department and the Endoscopic Panel of the National Cancer Institute of Milan. Since then he has started a path of development of operative endoscopy both in the bilio-pancreatic sector and in the luminal sector. He has introduced in the Institute the most innovative diagnostic-operative techniques and among these, the cholangio-pancreatoscopy to implement the accuracy of oncological diagnosis and the treatment of the most critical bilio-pancreatic complications after surgery and after liver transplantation. He introduced advanced resection techniques for pre-malignant and eraly stage malignant lesions of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts. In the field of post-surgical complications, his team is developing hybrid techniques for the management of complicated conditions after multi-organ oncological surgery, thus limiting the need for new surgery in the fragile patient. His training is a combination of experiences in International Centers including the Université Libre de Brussels since 2003 and the University of Helsinki since 2017 and national reference Centers such as the University of the Sacred Heart of Rome. He is the author of more than 80 articles in international

journals and has been a speaker in more than 40 national and international conferences. He has been president of the Lombardy Society of Digestive Endoscopy since 2025 and coordinates working tables for the development of Quality in Digestive Endoscopy. He has been a member of the European Society of Digestive Endoscopy since 2018. He coordinates the BASALT Study group with the collaboration of the main national centers for the treatment of biliary complications after liver transplant. In the Institute he coordinates a continuous updating path in Endoscopy of the Endoscopic Plate based on meetings with professionals from the major national centers. His group participates in multidisciplinary oncology groups including Hereditary Tumors of the Digestive System, Colorectal Tumors, Neuro-Endocrine Tumors, Bilio-Pancreatic Tumors.
