His work focuses on the study and on the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, stomach, esophageal, liver, biliary tract, pancreatic, and peritoneal tumors.

He is the author of over 350 scientific publications in international journals and has led numerous clinical studies involving new drugs and innovative strategies, as well as research projects on biomarkers for therapy response—some of which have received significant public or private funding.

He collaborates with leading oncological institutions worldwide and is recognized as one of the most active gastrointestinal oncologists globally.

His primary interest lies in the design of non-profit clinical trials that are not sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, aiming to improve clinical practice.

He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology and is an active member of major international oncology scientific societies.

The team he leads consists of outstanding oncologists with strong potential for research growth, and he is focused on fostering the training of young oncologists and medical residents who will shape the future of the Foundation.

His research has significantly contributed to defining current treatment standards for various gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal and gastroesophageal carcinoma.
