Dr. Claudia Proto is a medical oncologist with extensive experience in the management of thoracic malignancies. Since 2014, she has been working at the Thoracic Oncology Unit of the IRCCS National Cancer Institute of Milan, where she is involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and comprehensive care of patients with lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic tumors. Her clinical duties include outpatient visits, multidisciplinary assessments, inpatient care, on-call shifts, and intramural private consultations. She oversees both standard and experimental therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted agents, also within national and international clinical trials. She is an active member of the thoracic tumor boards and the Institute’s Molecular Tumor Board. She has supervised medical oncology residents and contributed to academic teaching in the School of Specialization. Dr. Proto has served as principal or sub-investigator in more than 100 phase I–III clinical trials and is co-author of over 80 peer-reviewed publications. She has led independent research projects (e.g., APOLLO, PEOPLE) and presented findings at major oncology congresses (WCLC 2019–2022, ESMO 2023). As a member of the TYME network, she led two multicenter studies (STYLE and RELEVENT) on thymic carcinoma. Her career path has strengthened her clinical, scientific, educational, and leadership skills within multidisciplinary and translational oncology.
