Dr. Macchi Alberto

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, he completed his specialization in Urology at the same institution with top marks. In addition to his clinical and surgical activity, Dr. Macchi actively contributes to scientific research, with numerous publications mainly focused on urological oncology. 

He is a member of the Prostate Cancer Unit (PCU) of the National Cancer Institute of Milan, where he deals in particular with active surveillance for prostate cancer and participates in multidisciplinary collegial visits and meetings. He also serves as Principal Investigator (PI) in international and multi-center clinical studies on bladder cancer, focusing on the treatment of recurrences and the use of new alternative drugs to BCG, within international multi-center collaborations. 

He also deals with the treatment of penile cancer, participating in the clinic dedicated to penile pathologies. He performs minimally invasive interventions with CO₂ laser, sentinel lymph node biopsies (SLN) and demolitive surgeries, performed in a few centers in Italy. He collaborates closely with the Head of the Division for the development of innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of testicular and renal tumors. 

During his specialization he carried out a nine-month research period in the United Kingdom at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. He is also currently a tutor for the Urology residents at the University of Milan.
