Typology: Simple Structure

Its mission is to ensure, through defined and traceable pathways, the patient’s therapeutic process, patient and staff safety, therapeutic appropriateness and adherence to protocols, as well as the effectiveness of the process, with full traceability of the activities carried out and the related responsibilities.

This is a simple unit within the Complex Structure of Hospital Pharmacy. The Central Drug Preparation Unit is responsible for the preparation of chemotherapy drugs. It contributes to the development and digitalization of therapeutic regimens, with particular attention to potential drug interactions, as well as the stability and compatibility of preparations, ensuring full adherence to experimental protocols in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

The unit plays a key supporting role in the Foundation’s clinical research. It participates in feasibility meetings (pre-study) and Site Initiation Visits (SIV) for clinical trials, and collaborates with Principal Investigators (PIs) and the Clinical Trial Center to ensure the proper conduct of clinical studies.

Internally, it collaborates with the Strategic Directorate, Scientific Directorate, staff units supporting both Directorates, and the organizational units of the Foundation’s management and functional departments.

Externally, it collaborates with national and international universities, regional and national IRCCS institutes, centers of excellence, the Lombardy Region (particularly the Directorate General for Welfare and the Budget Directorate), suppliers and other public and private entities, local health authorities (ATS and ASST), and AIFA (Italian Medicines Agency).
