Dr. Pusceddu Sara

Sara Pusceddu, born in Cagliari in 1979, has been working for over 20 years in Medical Oncology at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, a Center of Excellence for the study and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors (NET).  

Her work focuses on the research and treatment of rare neoplasms, in particular NETs of the pancreas, stomach, colorectal, appendix, liver, biliary tract, lung, thymus, skin (Merkel cell carcinoma), pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas. 

Actively involved in clinical research, she is the author of over 150 scientific publications and conducts numerous clinical prospective studies, with the aim to develope new drugs and innovative clinical strategies in the field of neuroendocrine tumors. 

She is the head of the NET medical oncology outpatient clinic at our Institute.  

She is also the oncologist referent of the institutional multidisciplinary team "Tumour Board NETs", where she weekly discusses all complex clinical cases.  

The multidisciplinary discussion  with NET specialist in our institution such as surgeons, pathologists, nuclear medicine, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists and interventional radiologists, allow to develop a personalized treatment plan for each patient. 

She is an active member and recently  has been recognized as the patient referent of the ENETS Center of the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano, which has obtained the certification of European Center of Excellence from the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society since 2014. 

Since April 2018 she has been a member of the Executive Committee of IT.A.NET (Italian Association of Neuroendocrine Tumors), where she currently holds the role of coordinator of the task force for projects and clinical studies.
