Specialty / Department
  • Internal Medicine

She earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2006, followed by a specialization in Internal Medicine in 2012, a PhD in Experimental Clinical Medical Sciences in 2016, and a second-level Master’s degree in Cardiac Intensive Care in 2022.

Since 2012 he has worked at the cardiology department of the ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda, gaining experience with patients with severe heart disease, including amyloid heart disease, heart and liver transplant candidates and patients with pulmonary hypertension. She also learned to use multimodal methods for the study of cardiac masses (heart CT-RM and PET). Since 2021, she has held a position at the Cardiology Unit of this Istitute.

With over 15 years of experience, she has been managing cancer patients with cardiovascular risk factors and primary heart disease. She specializes in addressing treatment-related cardiac alterations from treatment, both drug and radiotherapy. She performs more than 1,000 first- and second-level echocardiography tests annually, complemented by stress tests, cardio-respiratory test (CPET) and dynamic ECG and Blood Press monitoring. She develops personalized diagnostic and therapeutic programs for both inpatients and outpatients and she will contribute to exercise prescription for patients with and without cardiovascular problems.

Since 2010, as evidenced by her publication record in indexed journals and certifications from international cardiovascular societies, Dr. Vallerio has actively participated in clinical research. Her work focuses on arterial and cardiac structure and function using non-invasive and innovative methods, particularly in oncology and rheumatology. She has also gained expertise in big data analysis and conducted population studies to assess the toxicity of TKI drugs and conventional chemotherapy. She has tutored medical students from Bicocca and Statale Universities, mentoring them in cardiology and cardio-oncology (Scopus H-index: 17). Finally, for at least 10 years he has participated as a cardiologist consultant in regional multidisciplinary cardio-hematology training courses.
