Dr. Toma Martina

I am a biologist with academic and professional training in the biomedical field. I’m a member of the National Order of Biologists (Section A). After getting a diploma as a Chemical expert, I graduated with honors in Biological Sciences and obtained a Master’s Degree with honors in Biology Applied to Biomedical Research at the University of Milan. During my academic career, I gained experience in neurobiology and electrophysiology, conducting experimental theses focused on the study of pacemaker-like cardiomyocytes from induced pluripotent stem cells. 

Since 2022, I have been working at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, within the Department of Diagnostic Innovation where I am primarily involved in flow cytometry. My responsibilities include managing complex biological samples, immunophenotyping haematologic malignancies, assessing measurable residual disease and performing molecular analyses of B- and T-cell clonality, in addition to training technical staff. 

I have contributed as a co-author to a scientific publication and I have attended national conferences on flow cytometry. I regularly participate in ECM courses and specialized workshops in molecular pathology, haematological oncology and flow cytometry, as part of my ongoing professional development.
