Dr. Sorrentino Luca

Dr. Luca Sorrentino obtained a Master Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 2013, subsequently obtaining a Specialization in General Surgery in 2019 at the same University. He has been working as a General and Colorectal Surgeon at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan since 2019. His clinical and surgical activity has always been focused on the treatment of pelvic cancers, including locally advanced colorectal cancer and locally recurrent rectal cancer. He has performed several colorectal resections, preferentially with minimally invasive approach, both laparoscopic and robotic, but also with traditional open surgery. His research activity includes multidisciplinary management in advanced pelvic malignancies and immuno-oncological aspects related to colorectal cancer. He is the author of 95 publications on international journals, and he actively participates in cooperative studies proposed by the PelvEx group, the most relevant international research consortium on advanced pelvic surgery. Since 2024, Dr. Sorrentino is working with the Gynecological Oncology team of the Institute for all advanced and multivisceral pelvic surgery procedures in patients affected by gynecological malignancies, thus dedicating himself almost exclusively to complex abdominal surgery in women.
