Dr. Palassini Elena

I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 2003 and obtained my specialization in Medical Oncology from the University of Bologna in 2007. 

Since 2007, I have been working as a Medical Oncologist at Medical Oncology Unit 2, primarily managing patients with synovial sarcoma, malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors, breast sarcomas, angiosarcomas, and desmoid tumors. 

I am actively involved in the multidisciplinary breast sarcoma clinic and regularly participate in institutional meetings of the multidisciplinary sarcoma group and the group dedicated to hereditary gastrointestinal cancers. 

Author of over 50 scientific publications indexed in PubMed, I have taken part in numerous international clinical trials investigating innovative strategies and therapies for sarcomas and desmoid tumors, some of which have contributed to redefining the standard of care for these diseases. I have coordinated several observational studies on desmoid tumors, breast sarcomas, and angiosarcomas—areas that have been the primary focus of my scientific interest in recent years. I have also contributed to the development of national and international clinical practice guidelines in the diseases I specialize in. 

I am a member of the Italian Sarcoma Group, the national cooperative group of clinicians and researchers dedicated to sarcoma care and research, and of the Desmoid Tumor Working Group, an international panel of experts aiming to advance research and knowledge in desmoid tumors. 

In addition, I serve as a medical advisor for the Italian desmoid tumor patient association (Desmoid Foundation).
