Dr. Borsotti Edoardo

Since September 2023, I have been working as a Medical Director at the Complex Structure of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the National Cancer Institute of Milan, focusing on diagnosis and advanced treatments in digestive endoscopy. 

I carry out my main activities at the Digestive Endoscopy clinics, where I perform diagnostic and operative endoscopic procedures. I also provide service at the outpatient clinic and the Gastroenterology department, where I manage both acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions, such as chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, functional digestive disorders, celiac disease, anemia due to digestive tract bleeding, and pre-neoplastic and neoplastic diseases of the gastrointestinal and biliopancreatic tract. 

I am the point of contact for the colorectal cancer screening service within the ATS of this Institute. Additionally, I collaborate externally, providing specialist consultations for reporting capsule endoscopies. 

I am involved in scientific research and publications in international journals. At this Institute, I have developed a protocol for the surveillance and early diagnosis of neoplastic lesions in the small intestine in patients with genetically determined polyposis. I also collaborate with other institutes on multicenter clinical studies. Furthermore, I actively participate in multidisciplinary meetings for the management and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer and genetically determined polyposis. 

I have previous work experience at the San Donato Group (IRCCS San Donato Polyclinic and the Institutes of Care of the City of Pavia and Vigevano), where I worked as a freelance collaborator between December 2018 and July 2023. I provided services in the departments of Biliary-Pancreatic Digestive Endoscopy, outpatient clinics, and the Gastroenterology department. 

Throughout my career, I have also participated in humanitarian missions and training. For example, I participated in a mission in Madagascar (Vezo Hospital, Andavadoaka) in 2017, where I managed patients in gastroenterology and general medicine. 

I graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2012 from the University of Pavia, with full honors (110/110), and continued my training in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the University of Milan, specializing in September 2018 with the highest marks. I also gained practical experience in major healthcare facilities in Milan (Humanitas Clinical Institutes, San Giuseppe Multimedica Hospital, Policlinico of Milan, Policlinico San Donato).
