The SS carries out its specific activities in accordance with internal quality protocols, which are reviewed and updated on a regular basis. Furthermore, it provides advice and support to clinicians on pharmacoeconomics and pharmacology, and participates in the training and information provision for healthcare staff to ensure the appropriate and safe use of medicines. It supports clinicians in drafting research protocols relating to medicines, the management of side effects and pharmacovigilance; and in applications for the inclusion of medicines under Law 648 and for rare diseases. The department promotes and organises multidisciplinary improvement groups for the safe and appropriate use of medicines.
