The mission of the Environmental Epidemiology (EA) structure consists in the development of projects aimed at studying the effect of the environment where people live on the onset, prognosis of diseases and mortality by building and applying innovative methods for the integration of relational databases, open source information sources, statistical methods and software programs aimed at collecting and analyzing both clinical and environmental and socio-economic data. In relation to these observational studies, the EA structure also conducts intervention studies for the reduction of exposure to dangerous substances contained in everyday consumer products and actions for the analysis of the urban context in relation to the development of diseases, always developing methodologies for applied research that aims to transform the knowledge of scientific research into population health. These studies also include the fight against inequalities in the prevention of risk factors.
