Dr. Berto Virna

Specialist in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Dr Virna Berto has been working at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan since 2016, where she has gained extensive experience in the perioperative and intensive care management of oncological patients, both adults and children. Her clinical work focuses on complex surgeries in ENT, maxillofacial, thoracic, gynaecological, hepato-bilio-pancreatic (including liver transplants), and retroperitoneal sarcoma, as well as NORA procedures and the placement and management of central venous access devices for short, medium, and long-term use. 

She specialised in Anaesthesia, Resuscitation and Intensive Care at the University of Milan, and subsequently completed a second-level Master’s degree in Medium- and Long-Term Venous Access at the Università Cattolica in Rome, along with a diploma in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has developed integrated protocols for managing pain and postoperative conditions such as gastroparesis. 

Dr Berto is the author and co-author of numerous international scientific publications and has presented her work at leading national and international conferences. Her clinical approach is marked by high-level expertise, scientific rigour, and a deep focus on patient-centred care, combining ongoing scientific updates with human sensitivity.
