Dr. Sanfilippo Roberta

Roberta Sanfilippo is an Italian medical oncologist specializing in the study and treatment of adult sarcomas and rare tumors. She currently serves as a consultant physician at the Medical Oncology Unit 2 – Adult Mesenchymal and Rare Tumors at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan. 

She graduated with honors in Medicine from the University of Palermo and subsequently specialized in Medical Oncology at the University of Milan, completing her training in 2007 with top marks. Dr. Sanfilippo has built her career at the National Cancer Institute of Milan, where she has established herself as one of Italy’s leading experts in the field of sarcomas. 

She is involved in numerous national and international clinical trials as both Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator, with a focus on soft tissue sarcomas, GIST, leiomyosarcomas, liposarcomas, myxofibrosarcomas, PEComas, and uterine sarcomas. 

Dr. Sanfilippo is a member of the Italian Sarcoma Group, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), and the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group. She also plays a coordinating role within the Italian Rare Cancer Network. She collaborates actively with various patient advocacy organizations and currently leads the uterine sarcoma working group for the Leiomyosarcoma Foundation Round Table, an international panel of experts dedicated to advancing the treatment of leiomyosarcomas. 

With over 160 publications including papers and abstracts, Dr. Sanfilippo has made a substantial contribution to the scientific literature in the field of sarcoma research.
