Dr. Solli Piergiorgio

Dr. Piergiorgio Solli is the Director of Thoracic Surgery at the National Cancer Institute (IRCCS) in Milan. A specialist in General and Thoracic Surgery, he holds a PhD in Cardiothoracic Surgical Pathophysiology and has approximately 30 years of experience in the field. He has enhanced his training through international fellowships at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, Hôpital Pasteur in Nice, and the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh. ​ 

Throughout his career, Dr. Solli has held positions of increasing responsibility at prestigious Italian and international healthcare institutions, including the National Cancer Institute in Milan, the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan, the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge (UK), and the S. Orsola University Hospital in Bologna.​ 

He has developed expertise across nearly all areas of thoracic surgery, encompassing oncologic surgery, trauma surgery, transplantation, minimally invasive procedures (VATS and robotic), esophageal surgery, mediastinal surgery, airway surgery, and chest wall surgery.​ 

In parallel with his clinical practice, Dr. Solli has cultivated a robust scientific career, boasting a Scopus H-index of 35 and over 250 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He is also an author of book chapters, editor of manuals and textbooks, and serves as a reviewer for several international journals.
