Giorgio Bogani is one of the leading Italian and international experts in gynecologic oncology. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2007, completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2013, and earned a Ph.D. in Oncology and Experimental Medicine in 2016. He completed a fellowship at the Gynecologic Unit of the Mayo Clinic (USA), one of the most prestigious cancer centers in the world. Since 2014, he has been working in the Department of Gynecologic Surgery at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan. He is the author of over 400 scientific publications in international journals and has received recognition from several major scientific societies, including ESGO, GOG, ESGE, and ISGE. In 2021, he was appointed Associate Professor at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome. After returning to the Institute in 2022, he has been actively involved in both clinical and research activities. He has performed over 5,000 surgical procedures, with a particular focus on minimally invasive techniques. His main areas of interest include gynecologic oncology, precision medicine, targeted therapies, and the management of elderly or frail patients. He currently serves as Secretary of the EORTC Gynecological Cancer Group and is an active member of the European consortium Cancer Core Europe.

Giorgio Bogani is actively involved in the management and conduct of numerous clinical and translational research projects in the field of gynecologic oncology. He coordinates and participates in national and international multicenter studies aimed at improving the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of gynecologic cancers, integrating innovative approaches such as artificial intelligence, radiomics, and precision medicine. Among the main ongoing projects, Prof. Bogani is the principal investigator of the ROME study, which analyzes the correlation between radiomic profiles and molecular classification in endometrial cancer, and of a project funded by Sapienza University of Rome focused on the use of deep learning–based diagnostic systems for the detection of high-grade cervical lesions. These studies are part of a broader effort to apply technological innovation to early and personalized diagnosis. He also serves as principal investigator or co-investigator in several international advanced-phase clinical trials, including the TRUST trial on upfront radical surgery in advanced ovarian cancer, the SNEC study aimed at improving sentinel lymph node detection techniques, and multiple industry-sponsored trials evaluating the efficacy of immunotherapies and targeted agents, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and therapeutic vaccines against HPV. Through these efforts, Dr. Bogani promotes high-quality clinical research with the goal of rapidly translating scientific discoveries into tangible benefits for patients.
