I am a researcher with solid experience in tumor immunology and microenvironment. I obtained my PhD in 2011, in the lab of Dr. M. Bellone at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy, studying mechanisms of tumor-mediated immune suppression in murine models of prostate cancer and other solid tumors. Then, I moved for Post Doc in the lab of Dr. M.P. Colombo at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori (INT), Milan, Italy, where I integrated my previous experience with the laboratory’s main interest on the interactions between immune cells and extracellular matrix in the tumor microenvironment. Now, I am Group Leader within the Molecular Immunology Unit at INT.

My research mainly focuses on the study the role of stromal components in shaping neuroendocrine differentiation in resistance to hormone therapies in prostate cancer. Thanks to multiple collaborations within INT and at National and International level, I am also engaged in multiple projects that study how the immune microenvironment functions in various types of tumors, including lung cancer, ovarian cancer and soft tissue sarcomas. I coordinate a research team, composed by a post doc, three PhD students, an undergraduate student, and a technician. I am external supervisor of other three PhD students. During my career, I also mentored four PhD students to completion and formed nine undergraduate students; half of them continued academic career, one reached PI position.
