Dario Baratti, MD is an internationally recognized surgical oncologist specializing in the treatment of advanced abdominal cancers and peritoneal malignancies. With over 25 years of experience at the National Cancer Institute of Milan, he has developed outstanding clinical, technical, and scientific expertise in cytoreductive surgery (peritonectomy) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), which have revolutionized the management of peritoneal carcinomatosis from colorectal, appendiceal, gastric, and ovarian cancers, as well as pseudomyxoma peritonei,
peritoneal mesothelioma, and serous peritoneal carcinoma. In 2020, he obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor in Surgery.

Author of 188 scientific papers and more than 50 presentations at international conferences, he has an H-index of 57, reflecting the impact of his contributions to clinical research. Under his leadership, the National Cancer Institute has launched cutting-edge clinical programs, including the use of PIPAC (Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy), HIPEC personalization through drug sensitivity testing on organoids, and the study of minimal peritoneal disease via analysis of tumor-derived circulating DNA (ctDNA). He is the Principal Investigator in several research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Health and the PNRR, among others.

Since 2012, he has led a specialized surgical program for the treatment of advanced colorectal cancers. He holds key institutional roles as a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Scientific Advisory Board. He also collaborates as an Associate Editor for several international scientific journals.
