Dr. Scardino Andrea

Dr. Andrea Scardino is a General Surgery Specialist, having completed his training at the University of Milan with highest honors and distinction, focusing his career path on oncologic surgery, particularly of Sarcomas and Colorectal malignancies.

Since January 2025, he has been a Contract Physician at the Colorectal Surgery Unit of Fondazione IRCCS National Cancer Institute of Milan, directed by Dr. Isacco Montroni.

Andrea Scardino trained at some of Italy's leading oncologic surgical units, initially at the Esophageal Surgery Unit of 
Policlinico San Donato, subsequently at the Sarcoma Unit directed by Dr. Alessandro Gronchi, and finally at the Colorectal Surgery Unit of INT.

During his residency, he developed advanced skills in minimally invasive laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic surgery, training at centers of excellence and obtaining important certifications in Endoscopy and Robotic Surgery, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

His research focuses on oncologic, colorectal, and minimally invasive surgery. He is the author of several peer-reviewed publications in international journals, with particular interest in the clinical and translational oncologic field, especially on circulating predictive biomarkers and hereditary tumor-related studies.

A member of important scientific societies in the field (European Society of Surgical Oncology - ESSO; Italian Society of Surgical Oncology - SICO, European Society of Gastroenterology - ESGE), he has presented his research at 
national and international conferences, including SAGES 2021.Dr. Scardino maintains collaborations with European centers of excellence for the development of new therapeutic strategies in oncologic surgery. He also actively collaborates in multidisciplinary oncological teams at INT, contributing to the integrated management of colorectal cancer patients. He coordinates the working group for drafting INT's non-operative management protocol in rectal cancer patients and participates in important internal and finalized research projects as a collaborator.
