Dr. Marchianò Alfonso Vittorio

Doctor Alfonso Vittorio Marchianò is the Director of the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Unit and also Head of the Department of Imaging and Radiotherapy at the IRCCS Foundation National Cancer Institute. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1984 and specialized in Radiology (with a focus on Diagnostic Radiology and Radiotherapy) at the same university in 1988, completing his training with various national and international experiences. Since 1984, he has worked in different roles and responsibilities at the Institute, dedicating his professional and research activities primarily to the clinical applications of Computed Tomography, Angiography, Ultrasound, and a wide range of Oncological Interventional Radiology procedures. He has actively contributed to the research and development of many research projects, mainly focused on lung cancer, and in particular, he has been the Radiologist responsible for the lung cancer screening programs conducted at the Institute (MILD, BIOMILD, SMILE, and RISP projects), which have enrolled over 15,000 subjects since 2005. Member of the multidisciplinary team for Thoracic Neoplasms, since 2000 he has been involved in teaching at the School of Specialization in Medical Radiology at the University of Milan as a Contract Professor and has been a co-supervisor for various theses for degrees and specializations. As active member of the Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM), he has served as President of the Scientific Committee of the 51st National Congress.
