Women who inherit a mutation in the BRCA1/2 genes have a higher risk of developing breast and/or ovarian cancer. In the general population, about 12 out of 100 women develop breast cancer over the course of their lives, whereas among women carrying a BRCA mutation, this percentage rises to approximately 55 out of 100. However, risk does not mean disease: not all mutation carriers will develop cancer.

The e-BRAVE study aims to create a large online prospective cohort and biological bank of healthy women carrying BRCA1/2 mutations. Through the BRCApp, we collect lifestyle data and invite participants to undergo an anthropometric visit and blood examination. In return, participants gain access to exclusive content via the app, including diet and exercise tips, recipes, video recipes, and online workout sessions.

The goal of the study is to understand over time the role of genetic and environmental factors, as well as their interaction, in the development of BRCA-related cancers.
