This study aims to evaluate the variation in the risk of developing chronic diseases associated with overweight and obesity by comparing the levels of certain biomarkers among normal-weight women, metabolically healthy overweight/obese (MH), and metabolically unhealthy (MU) individuals. The hypothesis is that metabolic endotoxemia and low-grade chronic inflammation may explain the differing risks associated with MH or MU adiposity and may be involved in the onset of obesity-related chronic diseases.
