Digital Pathology
Milano
Via Giacomo Venezian, 1 , 20133 Milano MI

The simple Care Unit of Digital Pathology aims at the implementation, clinical validation and governance of all the technical solutions, hardware and software, required to transform the daily work of the pathologist from “analogue” (physical slide + optical microscope) to “digital” (virtual slide + image display systems).
This transition will also become increasingly necessary due to the impetus provided by the rapid development of instrumentation and computer systems that has been changing the habits of clinical practice in various areas of medicine in recent decades.
The advantages of switching to Digital Pathology are numerous:
- flexibility and ease of sharing for second opinions
- possibility of remote access
- accurate measurements
- comparison of stained slides with different techniques
- ability to quickly access precedents or similar cases for greater diagnostic accuracy
- enhanced traceability of workflows
- optimisation of productivity and reporting times
- applicability of image analysis algorithms including AI for more reliable and reproducible data
- rapid sharing of results within multidisciplinary teams and clinical, basic or translational research groups.
