Dr. Apolone Giovanni

Giovanni Apolone has been the Scientific Director of the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori of Milan since 2015, after holding the same position at the IRCCS of Reggio Emilia (2013–2015). He carried out research at the Mario Negri Institute from 1990 to 2011, including a sabbatical year in 2002 at SENDO and the FDA. 

His main areas of interest include the methodology, ethics, and regulation of clinical research—particularly in oncology—the evaluation of the quality of healthcare interventions, the development of outcome and case-mix indicators, and training in the medical and healthcare fields. 

He has received numerous appointments to regional, national, and European scientific committees, including FRRB, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), and the Lombardy Region. He is currently President of OECI and a member of major organizations such as Cancer Core Europe, Alleanza Contro il Cancro, CNAO, Fondazione Floriani, The Bridge, and LILT. He also served as Chair of the Ethics Committee of IEO. 

He has published over 270 scientific and popular science articles and around ten books. His Hirsch index is 60.
