The Vaccination Clinic of the IRCCS National Cancer Institute Foundation in Milan was established to provide a dedicated and highly specialized service for the prevention of infections in adult cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Institute, through the administration of vaccines recommended by leading national and international guidelines.

Another objective of the clinic is to prevent cancers caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, through the administration of the vaccine to both cancer patients and healthy individuals.

Vaccinations are evaluated and scheduled by a team of medical specialists and trained healthcare staff, based on the patient’s medical history and immunological status. Vaccinations are administered in a controlled environment, equipped to manage any adverse reactions, with each dose meticulously recorded.

In 2025, the Institute’s vaccination clinic received the “IRCCS PUBBLICO VACCINATO” recognition from The Bridge Foundation, in collaboration with the Lombardy Region, as part of the “VACCINATIONS FOR FRAGILE PATIENTS” initiative.

The clinic is located on Level -1, below the reception desk (from the entrance, follow the pink line).

World Immunization Week – April 28, 2026

In observance of World Immunization Week, on April 28, 2026, the National Cancer Institute’s vaccination clinic will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with no appointment necessary, to administer recommended vaccinations to cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Institute. The recommended vaccinations are free of charge.

  • Adult oncology patients receiving treatment at the Foundation, who are generally more vulnerable to infections due to their disease, ongoing or planned therapies, or clinical/age-related conditions.
  • Adults of both sexes up to 26 years of age who wish to receive the HPV vaccine for the prevention of related cancers, particularly cervical and oropharyngeal cancers.
  • Adults belonging to risk categories defined by the National Vaccination Prevention Plan (PNPV), for whom HPV vaccination is recommended.

Through a personalized and safe pathway, patients can receive all vaccines recommended for their condition. Available vaccines include:

  • Herpes Zoster vaccine

  • Meningococcal vaccines (ACWY and B)
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine
  • Hepatitis A and B vaccines

  • Cancer patients undergoing treatment at the institute: via the internal form available to all institute physicians, or through a direct appointment made by ward staff.
  • Healthy individuals for whom the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is recommended: by sending an email to vaccinazioni@istitutotumori.mi.it and providing your contact phone number.
