Struttura Semplice Dipartimentale Stabulario

Descrizione:

Head: Giacomo Manenti

The mission is to give support to the implementation of translational pre-clinical research activities in the oncological field, implementing an animal experimentation conducted in an ethical manner, using appropriate methodologies to obtain scientifically valid and reproducible results. The conception, construction and operation of the structure were carried out with the aim of guaranteeing the best conditions for housing and the activities of using animal models in compliance with the protection of the health and welfare of the same, to promote good scientific practice, in compliance with current legislation (Legislative Decree 26/2014). This means that research on animals is conducted with particular attention to the concepts of replacement, reduction of the animals used as well as the refinement of procedures, the optimization of which translates into guaranteeing the welfare of the animals used in experimentation.
The animal facility is also accredited for the breeding of genetically modified animals, with a non-suffering phenotype. These animals represent a model organism for the study of various tumor pathologies, in order to identify and characterize the molecular mechanisms that underlie the onset and progression of these pathologies, and to test possible new pharmacological treatments.
