Il progetto SOLACE (Strenghtening the screening of Lung Cancer in Europe), co-finanziato dall’Unione Europea (EU4Health Programme 2021–2027 under grant agreement no. 101101187) e a cui partecipa la Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, ha come principale obiettivo l’implementazione dello screening del tumore polmonare a livello europeo, attraverso l’individuazione e l’attuazione di strategie che favoriscono la partecipazione di soggetti a rischio per tumore del polmone, una delle principali cause di morte a livello mondiale.

Il progetto ha individuato delle specifiche sottopopolazioni target:

• Donne
• Soggetti “hard to reach” (minoranze etniche, comunità geograficamente isolate e soggetti esposti in ambito lavorativo)
• Soggetti con patologie polmonari che aumentano il rischio di tumore polmonare (BPCO e fibrosi polmonare)

La missione di SOLACE è quella di sviluppare strategie e sistemi per identificare potenziali “colli di bottiglia” nell’implementazione e disseminazione dello screening del tumore del polmone, tenendo conto di possibili differenze tra i vari paesi europei.

The SOLACE project (Strengthening the screening of Lung Cancer in Europe), co-funded by the European Union (EU4Health Program 2021–2027 under Grant agreement no. 101101187) and in which the IRCCS Foundation Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori is actively involved, aims at implementing the lung cancer screening in Europe, through the identification and development of strategies that increase the participation of subjects at high risk for lung cancer, one of the main causes of death worldwide.

The project identified specific target populations:

• Women

• “Hard to reach” subjects (ethnic minorities, populations living in geographically remote regions, and worker/employee population taken care of by occupational medicine)

• Subjects with lung diseases that increase the risk of lung cancer (COPD and pulmonary fibrosis)

The mission of SOLACE is to develop strategies to identify potential "bottlenecks" in the implementation and dissemination of lung cancer screening, considering possible differences between various European countries.
